BIOGRAPHY
Akintomide Aluko (b.1988) is a visual artist with a background in photography/film. He has a B.tech in Fine and Applied Arts (2011) from Ladoke Akintola University of technology, Oyo state, Nigeria. He also has a diploma in Filmmaking (2016) with a major in cinematography, this certification came with a full year internship with a now defunct media outfit in Nigeria. Akintomide’s artistic abilities had been since childhood with a passion for recreating cartoon characters and comics for leisures, albeit not a career he’d originally set out for but fate they say has a way of forging a man’s path, hence why he’d always say art for him is a calling. He has been practicing as a full time studio artist in Lagos Nigeria till date, he has participated in selected exhibitions and art based programs till date.
Akintomide is currently working on his new body of works from his quite home studio in Lagos, and might be having a debut solo show amidst exploring other opportunities to take his craft to another level.

My work as an artist addresses the past/present, societal issues, mental health. It is representational and figurative but could take any form through research and explorations and yes, there is always a narrative, something that gives the work a direction. In recent times, my subject matter revolves around femininity, documenting traits such as gracefulness, nurturance, expressiveness, strength, fragility, etc.
